Our home on wheels |
We found our familiar slip (C-6) at the Pleasure Island
Marina, in Port Arthur Texas, in late April.
After 5 months of cruising it was good to be home and see familiar
faces. On May 1, we purchased a motorhome
and soon began our land cruise. After
several local camping trips to familiarize ourselves with the new vessel, we
shoved off toward cooler weather on Father's Day in late June. We drifted west to El Paso, visiting Paige and
Vid, then turned north through New Mexico into Colorado. In mid-July, the drifting came to a halt. While camped at the Junction Creek Campground
in the San Juan National Forrest, we met the area directors of the Rocky
Mountain Recreation Company, the managing company

Did I mention the dirt road? |
for many National Parks. I curiously inquired about being a park host
and two days later we were the park hosts of the SJNF's Cimarrona Campground,
28 miles up a dirt road into the mountains, north of Pagosa Springs. We spent
10 weeks, without electricity, hiking the trails, fishing the streams and viewing
wildlife while nestled between beautiful mountains at an elevation of 8400 feet. The year 2020
will forever be known for the horrible Corona virus. However we were fortunate to have lived 5
months in the beautiful waters and beaches of The Bahamas and 4 months in the
mountains of Colorado. The climate of 2020 was unique for us as our summer was cooler than our winter. In January, 2021,
we moved into our Pleasure Island Marina Condo.

We love family visits. |
In mid April we are scheduled to return to Colorado to work
for the Rocky Mountain Rec Company in a slightly different capacity. The position will have us in the Durango area
until mid-October. Future water cruising
ventures are currently uncertain but we feel the bug returning. Whether we continue in Pura Vida or opt for a larger sailboat is yet to be determined, but
I do feel the call of the ocean and dream of the beauty it offers.
